Southern Oregon Chapter:
The chapter will hold its annual membership meeting on Sunday October 22nd from 3pm to 5:30pm at the Unete office in Medford. The theme, Diversity and Civil Liberties in Southern Oregon will be explored in presentations by Masanee Brown on "Healthy Survival as a Minority Woman-A Positive Focus", and John Almaguer on civil liberties implications of INS proceedings.
In addition, a representative from the Yes on 94 Campaign will discuss the fall ballot measure to repeal mandatory sentencing in Oregon. LeRoy Owens will perform excerpts from his CD "The Meaning of Freedom: A Centennial Commemoration for Paul Robeson".
The meeting will include chapter board elections and additional nominations may be made from the floor. Refreshments and a reception for our speakers will follow the presentations and elections. If you have questions or to RSVP, call 541-858-3349 or 541-890-2258.
Lane County Chapter:
The chapter board has elected two new members to the board to fill existing vacancies. The board is working on ballot measure campaigns at the local level. The chapter board meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm. Members are welcome; call the Eugene office for details.
Benton-Linn Chapter:
The board had lively discussions with the public about our positions on this November's ballot measures while tabling at the Corvallis Fall Festival in September. The board is in the midst of recruiting members to serve on the board. Call the Eugene office for details on how to be more active protecting civil liberties in this part of Oregon.
